Illuminating Biodiversity in Deep Waters of Puerto Rico (2022)
Lead by Dr. Andrea Quattrini, the expedition happened off Puerto Rico in 2022 on board of NOAA vessel Nancy Foester, with the goal of to documented a wide variety of marine life, including commercially important species and species that may be new to science using the remotely operated vehicle (ROV) Global Explorer. DROP: The Deep Reef Observation Project (2018)
In the last year of the project, we collect ARMS (Autonomous Reef Monitoring Structures) deployed in different depths in Curacao coast, under scuba or using the submarine CuraSub (in picture). The goal was to explore biodiversity and monitor changes on deep reefs in the southern Caribbean. Read more on the project here.
IV Workshop on Taxonomy of Atlanto-Mediterranean deep-sea and cave sponges (2018)
The meeting happened in Marseille (France), to discuss sponge taxonomy on the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean sea. About 40 researchers participated of this whole week workshop, with a boat tour in the Mediterranean (picture above). Read more about it here.
10th World Sponge Conference NUI - Galway (2017)
In 2017, in Gayway (Ireland), happened the 10th world sponge conference, reuniting spongiologists from all around the world to discuss different aspects in sponge biology. In the picture, you can see all past sponge meetings organizers. To learn more about it, click here.
In 2016, a month expedition along the Brazilian Northeastern coast was lead by Dr. Eduardo Hajdu in order to assess shallow water sponge diversity in Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte and Fernando de Noronha. Learn more about it here.
Workshop LIA-MARRIO (2016)
Part of a collaboration project between France and Brazil, the second workshop LIA-MARRIO happened in the Academy of Science, in Rio de Janeiro. Read more about it here.
